Mt. Healthy Alliance - Special Events

Here are some of special events, fund raiser activities, and gifts that have helped our ministry:

Der Deutsche Buben Verein was founded on October 3, 1998 in Cincinnati, Ohio. As of July 2009, there were 110 members in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic. They are an organization of people who enjoy life!

Each year, the Buben Verein hosts the Buben “Fore-Man” Scramble, a golf outing that raises funds for any worthwhile charity that comes to our attention in the previous year. The Buben Winter Picnic, held each year in either February or March, is also a way for our members and invited guests to contribute to a worthwhile charitable endeavor.

This year the Mt. Healthy Alliance was chosen to be the charity for the Winter Picnic! $1,443 was raised! THANK YOU!

On October 17, 2011 we held a Celebration Event in Mt. Healthy. There was free food, entertainment, games, prizes, face painting for all. Donations of non perishable food items were collected during the event.

fresh winds The Mt. Healthy Alliance presented the FRESH WIND choir on October 30, 2011 at 5PM in the Russell Hinkle Fine Arts Auditorium at the Mt. Healthy Jr./Sr. High School.

GENEROUS GIFT FROM EAGLES On April 14, the local Fraternal Order of Eagles presented the Mt. Healthy Alliance with a very generous gift, a check in the amount of $4,000. (click on thumbnails for larger view)

North College Hill Kroger Canned Food Drive July 2011

We collected just over 804 pounds of food and personal/cleaning items and $235 in cash. One cash donation was a $50 bill! Because the food came from Kroger’s shelves, we can feel pretty confident that all of the items collected have sell buy dates well into the future.

None of this would have been possible without the work of our wonderful volunteers! We logged 36.5 volunteer hours just on the day of this event. Thank you Joan Amiott, Janie Burwick, Karen Gerrety, Bebe Hales, Joan Haynes, Don Hubbard, Denise Kaeser, Tracey Prinz, John Rapach, Alex Roetting, Julie Roetting, Leath Sarvo, Bill Schnier, and Kathy Schnier. Several of these volunteers would normally have been working at the pantry on Saturday. So our thanks also to those volunteers who covered the usual pantry duties.

As usual, Kathy’s role was critical to this event. She recruited all but 2 of the volunteers, not including me, Don Hubbard and herself. She’s the primary keeper of the key to the pantry, so she coordinated the movement of the items from Kroger’s to the pantry.

A Mt. Healthy Alliance team of runners and walkers participated in the annual Freestore Foodbank Hunger Walk held at Sawyer Point on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011. Other volunteers helped with registration of participants on the day of the event. This is the second year the Alliance has been involved.
